Plus I don't know how long relying on "desktop mode" is going to work, since Valve seems to be patching the xinput features out of desktop mode bit by bit. I know that without overlay any of the "touch/radial menu" features won't work, but for some games they're not useful. I figure there could be a way to intentionally NOT run the overlay for certain games? I've tried launching the games from big picture mode and normal desktop client, but this does not appear to have an effect on the game using big picture overlay.
